It is just that a lot of the data I use comes in bulk, and I have to prep it after I download it (you can look at PatentsView, a source of bulk patent data. These are GB-sized data sets in a .tsv format--a very inconvenient format). I use Minitab for almost all of my quant work except the multivariate tools like MCA or EFA.
